Introductory telephone call

FREE

I offer a free, no obligation 20-minute telephone call for us to meet one another and see whether it feels right. During this initial call, we will discuss what brings you to counselling, and you can ask any questions you might have about me and how I work.

Weekly individual counselling session

£60

If we choose to work together following the introductory telephone call, we will then arrange our initial counselling session, and an ongoing time to meet weekly. Counselling sessions are 50 minutes long.

I recognise that, unfortunately, my fees will not be accessible for everyone. Should my fees not meet your affordability requirements, there are various excellent low-cost counselling services in Derby and the East Midlands (and across the UK) which offer counselling at lower prices. They are often able to offer lower fees due to counsellors, both at trainee level and fully qualified, volunteering their time.

For transparency, here are some of my costs for running a private practice, to give you an idea of what the fee covers beyond the session itself:

  • Accredited membership with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP): to ensure I follow an ethical framework and adhere to the highest professional counselling standards, as well as to keep abreast of any developments within counselling & psychotherapy.

  • Regular clinical supervision: as per the requirements of the BACP, I am in regular clinical supervision to ensure my work remains effective, ethical, and safe. I regularly see two highly experienced supervisors (including a specialist Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diversity supervisor), providing further support to you.

  • Ongoing training and professional development: a minimum of 30 hours professional development training each year is mandatory for all counsellors. I regularly invest in more training than the minimum requirement to help me support you to the best of my ability, and so that my approach is informed by the latest thinking in the field of counselling & psychotherapy.

  • Insurance: to provide us both with the necessary protection.

  • Registration with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): your privacy and protecting your personal data is important to me, and as such I am registered with the ICO.

  • Website, video conferencing, email, and domain subscriptions: to be contactable, and to have the flexibility to be able to offer you online sessions.

  • Counselling & Psychotherapy directory listings: so that I am easy to find for clients like yourself.

"

Heather is a warm and empathetic counsellor who made me feel completely relaxed and safe. Primarily she helped me with self-awareness as well as to recognise how my own thoughts and actions affect me. As a result, I am much kinder to myself, feel less stressed, and sleep so much better.
