Hello, I'm Heather.

I'm a BACP-accredited counsellor, and an advanced accredited Gender, Sexuality, and Relationship Diversities Therapist with 5+ years of experience. I work in-person in Belper, Derbyshire and remotely via video platform.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent a decade working in consumer insights in London. It was fast-paced and demanding, and I found it exciting. Over time, I became stressed, exhausted, unfulfilled. After going through a challenging time - a combination of grief, stress, anxiety, and burnout - I sought therapy for the first time. Counselling gave me a place to slow down and connect with how I was feeling. The experience was challenging and transformative. Not only did counselling support me through that time, it also helped me to understand myself (past and present) much better. I was inspired to change career path, and I went on to train in Gestalt counselling at The Gestalt Centre (London). I volunteered with Counselling Initiatives, before opening my private practice.

I attend regular clinical supervision and engage in my own personal therapy to ensure that my work remains safe, ethical and effective. As a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy), I adhere to their ethical framework and regularly attend Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses, events and workshops.

“Finding a therapist who truly sees and respects me as a polyamorous, non-binary, queer person in Belper has been incredible. Thanks to Heather's guidance, I had a safe space to explore myself and make breakthroughs I wouldn't have been able to elsewhere.”
