A very warm welcome to you.
Seeking out counselling can be a big step, and I'm happy that you have already made it this far. It is important that you find the right counsellor for you at this time, and so on this page I have shared one or two things about myself to help you gain an insight into who I am, and how I will work with you.
I am a fully qualified, registered Gestalt counsellor, having trained at The Gestalt Centre, London.
I am a registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy), and I adhere to their ethical guidelines. As part of this, I regularly attend Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses, events and workshops.
Diploma in Gestalt Counselling - The Gestalt Centre
Certificate in Humanistic Counselling - The Gestalt Centre

How will I work with you?
In keeping with my training, my main approach to counselling is relational Gestalt therapy. I offer you a space where together we can explore, express, and process what has brought you to therapy. I will listen – truly listen - to what is going on for you with warmth, curiosity and – occasionally – gentle challenge. I will help you raise your awareness of your thoughts, feelings, sensations and behaviours in the present moment, bringing to light what is happening for you. I will be curious about what happens between you and I in the present moment, which will help us identify and understand any habitual patterns of how you relate to others. This increased awareness is invariably powerful, and will support you in finding new ways forward, allowing you to respond to life in a more conscious, more choiceful, way.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in consumer insight in London, and so I have a decade's worth of experience in the fast-paced, and oftentimes stressful, business world.
I am originally from Derbyshire, and have recently returned after years of living in London. I am just as happy in the wild outdoors - walking, hiking, or running - as I am curled up on my sofa watching an engaging film, or getting lost in a good book (preferably with a strong female lead).
If you feel I might be the counsellor for you, please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we can arrange a free 20-minute telephone call to meet one another and see if it feels right. I very much look forward to meeting you.
